Application (Spanish) in PDF format (Adobe Reader required) This program is funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The program provides services to almost 400 low-income
pre-school children and their families. Most Head Start classrooms run from 8:45 am to 3:45 pm, September through June. However, Bergen County Head Start now offers some full-year/full-day classrooms to meet the needs of working parents. These limited spaces are available on a first-come basis to families that need the extended coverage. Each session
comprises a maximum of 18 children, who receive a full range of educational, medical, nutritional and social services. The Head
Start program is free, and each family must demonstrate financial eligibility before being admitted. Parent involvement is highly
stressed ... it is expected that all parents take an active part in their child's education.
This component is funded in part by the New Jersey Department of Human Services, Division of Family Development. It consists of three (3) full-day sessions providing services to a maximum of 54 pre-school children. Classes run from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm. Parents must be employed or in school full time. There is a fee for this service, based on family size and income. Eligibility must be demonstrated before being enrolled into the program. |
