It consists of full-day sessions providing services to a maximum of 72 pre-school children. Classes run from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. Parents must be employed or in school full time. There is a fee for this service, based on family size and income. Eligibility must be demonstrated before being enrolled into the program.
If you are a Bergen County resident with a child between the ages of 0-5 or are pregnant, and are a low-income family (as defined by the U.S. Federal Government), you may qualify for one of BCCAP's programs.

Transition to Kindergarten:

Bergen County Head Start and Early Head Start implements a school readiness plan that focuses on five essential domains outlined in The Head Start Child Development and Early Learning Framework. This plan identifies elements that align with both the New Jersey Preschool Standards and Creative Curriculum Objectives for Development and Learning; this alignment helps identify areas that can be monitored and assessed.
The plan was developed by staff members from education, health and social service, parents of children in the program, and community sources. Once drafted, the plan was reviewed and approved by the Policy Council.
